Join

When you visit our club for the first time, you will receive a Guest Information package that gives you general information about Toastmasters International, the Toastmasters program, and our club.  Should you decide to join our club at that time, the Vice President Membership will assist you in completing the application form.   However, it is not unusual for guests to come back a few times before making the decision to join Bowmanville Toastmasters.  By attending a couple of meetings before you join, you will get a better feel for the dynamics of our club.  You will find that we are a very friendly group and that you will always be welcome to attend our meetings!
After you have completed the application form and paid the appropriate membership fee, the club members vote you in according to the club bylaws, a requirement for all Toastmasters clubs.  Once you have been accepted as a member, you will receive the Competent Communicator and the Competent Leader Manuals – your first work books – and other educational materials as well as the monthly issue of Toastmasters Magazine.  You are entitled to participate in all aspects of the Toastmasters program right away.  The Vice President of Education will schedule you for your first speech, the Ice Breaker, as soon as possible.

Fees

The initial fee, which includes the fees for Toastmasters International, the club, and a facility fee, is pro-rated according to the month of your application.  Semi-annual membership fees of $70.00 are due April 1st and October 1st.  Fees are payable by cheque to the Bowmanville Toastmasters Club.  For example, if you joined in April, the new member fee is $105.00.  In October, you will then pay the semi-annual fee of $70.00, which covers your membership until March 31st.
If you joined in July, the total new member fee is $70.00.  This carries you to September 30th when you will then pay a semi-annual fee of $70.00, which covers your membership from October 1st to March 31st.
Fees are payable in Canadian funds.  The portion submitted to Toastmasters international is in U.S. funds.
